CITY LIMITS – Since coronavirus lockdown measures went into effect in March, the number of jobless residents in New York has surged: so far, the state has processed more than 2 million unemployment benefit applications, while the unemployment rate in the city alone jumped from 4.1 to 14.2 percent from March to April, according to Labor Department data.
