Nonprofit Disaster Resilience

Nonprofit Disaster Resilience

HSC began the disaster readiness and resilience program when nonprofit service providers were called upon to serve New Yorkers after disaster, but were not themselves ready to cope with the financial, programmatic, and infrastructure impacts.

HSC helps the human services sector with the unique challenges presented to them during the times of disaster, response, and recovery.

Trainings & Resources

In our Disaster Resilience trainings, HSC members learn how they can become more prepared and to promote resilience throughout the organization and develop written plans to prepare for response and recovery efforts.

All organizations can download our emergency plan template and other resources.

HSC convenes a quarterly workgroup of direct service providers, umbrella organizations, government partners, and others to discuss trends in the disaster preparedness world, share resources, identify opportunities and gaps, and create a more resilient New York.
