Democracy at Work: How your Nonprofit can Increase Voter Participation

Voter registration and get out the vote activities are among the most effective, inexpensive and inclusive forms of advocacy and community engagement. This interactive forum will focus on how low voter turnout affects nonprofits and the communities they serve; how fellow Nonprofit Coordinating Committee and Human Service Council members have increased voter turnout and how your organization can begin to do voter education, registration and get-out-the vote work for the November election and beyond.

Key Takeaways:

As part of our discussion, we will discuss how to reach people who typically don’t vote, brainstorm how increased political participation could positively impact the communities we serve, and identify key phrases to include in an elevator pitch about why voting is important.

Louisa Hackett, Director of Community Votes, will present this forum.

This forum is ideal for staff of nonprofits that provide direct services or are new to nonpartisan election activity.
